General preparation activities
National Roma Centrum (NRC) as non-governmental organization dealing with Roma issues, striving for active participation and integration of the Roma in the society and protection of the rights of every citizen actively was involved in campaign for the Parliamentary elections in Macedonia 2006. Our efforts to better the situation of Roma are focused on education and motivating Roma to increase the level of participation in the educational system and all forms of civil participation of Roma in the society.
Starting from January 2006 we were working on the preparations for the project to be carried out as planned. Regarding our work on the project for these parliamentary elections we were working to involve the young Roma population as active citizens in the society, to raise the awareness among the population in order to educate about the right to vote as human right and obligation. On the other hand using this right to vote Roma can be equal and legitimate part of the society as well. (more…)

About the participation of the women in the election process, for the role of the members as educators of the Roma women as equal participants and voters and for the participation of members from the Roma women Association – Esma as observers during the elections, stated the President of this association Kevsera Memedova.
Elezovski called upon all of the citizens for active participation on the parliamentary elections pointing out the need for mutual consideration of the importance of the election process, and he also pointed out that this process should not be seen as an event.
