Anti-gypsism is an occurrence, against which Macedonian as well as European human rights organizations fight. One of those fighters is Asmet Elezovski from the National Roma Centrum from Kumanovo and member of the European Roma and Travelers Forum from Strasbourg. He says that anti-gypsism is present in Macedonia, but not as much as in Europe.- Different people are to blame. Statements from politicians, insufficiently educated for respect of other peoples’ believes, skin color and national belonging. There is institutionalized disinterest for acting accordingly towards stereotypes, that unfortunately are being delivered in person. A discussion is necessary at school level, if we want to abolish stereotypes and prejudices – points out Elezovski.

Without school no social assistance

For the parents who will not enroll their children in school, besides the fines so far terminating of social assistance is being predicted if they are beneficiaries.
The socially endangered families will remain without the monetary assistance from the state if the parents do not enroll their children in elementary education. The social assistance will also be terminated for the parents who will not enroll their children in high school if it becomes obligatory in the next year. Keep reading…

Over a thousand Roma children at pre school age will remain un enrolled in school because they do not have personal documents. The parents do not have the money to get them birth certificates; they can not afford to buy them books, school material and clothes. Miners on the age 7-8 years, are working for 100 denars per hour, and are working for 11 hours in the vineyards in Tikves. The thirteen year old K.
