NRC in the media – Nova Makedonija, 21.11.2011

Anti-gypsism is an occurrence, against which Macedonian as well as European human rights organizations fight. One of those fighters is Asmet Elezovski from the National Roma Centrum from Kumanovo and member of the European Roma and Travelers Forum from Strasbourg. He says that anti-gypsism is present in Macedonia, but not as much as in Europe.
    - Different people are to blame. Statements from politicians, insufficiently educated for respect of other peoples’ believes, skin color and national belonging. There is institutionalized disinterest for acting accordingly towards stereotypes, that unfortunately are being delivered in person. A discussion is necessary at school level, if we want to abolish stereotypes and prejudices – points out Elezovski.
