How much the state is prepared to offer a quality education for the Roma?

The National Roma Centrum for several years back through its activities has been trying to create positive currents within the frames of the educational issues of the Roma. The currents refer to more efficient and more massive presence in the educational process. On the issue of inclusion of Roma children in the educational system the NRC has been working in Macedonia but also abroad in partnership with European Roma organizations.

The NRC has been urging for complete inclusion of the Roma pupils in regular elementary education through promotion of the social responsibility for conducting an educational policy and elimination or minimization of dropping out of the Roma pupils.

NRC, with the support of the Roma Educational Fund from Budapest, has continued its campaign which is being realized with the basic goals:

  1. To increase the number of enrolled Roma pupils in elementary education through improved institutional cooperation on all levels and increased awareness for the meaning of education in the Roma community.
  2. Creating of a data base which will serve as a main tool of the educational institutions in creating of policies for improvement of the Roma education and monitoring of the progress of the already enrolled pupils through previous project activities.
