NRC as part of European Grassroots Anti-Racist Movement (EGAM), on the occasion of the Roma pride day is joining to the mobilization for the dignity of Roma people

Macedonia, 2 October 2015 – National Roma Centrum is part of Roma Pride, organized on the first Sunday each October in the past four years, a mobilization for the dignity of Roma people – gathering 78 MEPs and MPs coming from 22 countries, 10 former ministers, and hundreds of intellectuals, artists, antiracist activists, Roma and non-Roma together simultaneously in 14 countries: Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Macedonia, Montenegro, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Ukraine. For its 5th edition, this Sunday, October 4th, NRC is part of the Roma Pride day as launching event of the “Dignity for Lety!” campaign, which goal is to remove the pig farm standing on the site of a former concentration camp for Roma people in Lety, Czech Republic.  The right to be valued, respected and equally treated is inalienable right to all human beings, Roma equally deserve respect, rights and freedoms without distinction of any kind.

We will only succeed in improving policy implementation when Roma issues are mainstreamed, that means being treated, not just with specific programmes and actions, but also as a part of the general framework of European, national and local policies. Roma are trying to survive confronted with constant deterioration of socio-economic condition, stereotypes, prejudices, discrimination, lack of measures to protect cultural and language identity. This is an urgent moment when EU and other international subjects must have serious approach toward these kinds of acts, because Roma are still faced with violations of basic human rights and dignity.
